Are you considering installing an epoxy floor but have questions? We've compiled the most common questions from our customers to help you make an informed decision.

  • How long does an epoxy floor last?

The lifespan depends on the quality of the materials used, the surface preparation, and professional application.

At Epoxy Deluxe Mtl, we use top-quality products and UV-resistant polyaspartic finishes that are resistant to yellowing, scratches, and wear. Our 10-year warranty on installation is a testament to the confidence we have in our installations. Regular maintenance also extends the life of the coating.

  • How long do I have to wait before walking on an epoxy floor?

You can walk lightly on an epoxy floor after 24 hours, but you should wait 48 to 72 hours before normal traffic. For heavy traffic, vehicles, or moving furniture, we recommend waiting a full 7 days to allow the epoxy to cure completely.

With our fast-drying polyaspartic finish, these times can be slightly reduced. Ambient temperature and humidity affect the curing time. Our team will provide you with specific instructions based on the specific conditions of your project to ensure the optimal longevity of your installation.

  • How do you maintain an epoxy floor?

Maintaining an epoxy floor is simple: sweep or vacuum regularly to remove dirt and abrasive debris. Deep cleaning every 3 to 6 months with a specialized epoxy cleaner will maintain its shine. The non-porous surface prevents liquids from penetrating, making daily maintenance much easier.

  • Can epoxy be applied to any surface?

Epoxy adheres best to clean, dry, structurally sound concrete. It can be applied to new or existing concrete, provided the surface is properly prepared.

Epoxy is not suitable for wood, tile, or asphalt surfaces without specialized preparation. Major cracks or unstable slabs must be repaired before application.

  • What is the difference between metallic epoxy and flake epoxy?

Metallic epoxy uses metallic pigments that create unique, fluid, three-dimensional visual effects resembling marble or waves.

Flake epoxy incorporates coloured vinyl flakes dispersed throughout the epoxy, creating a slightly rough, non-slip texture. This option is more economical and masks imperfections in the concrete.
